Don’t think of it as being hard on myself. I PROBABLY could have just closed the twitter account and MOST LIKELY no one would have ever noticed.

In this transparent online word I figured that if I’m going to tell clients what not to do online I had better out myself before someone else does it for me. How embarrassing would that be? I would rather have people learn from my mistakes than to make another New Media Faux pas by ignoring it or worse, trying to hid it.

Hey there, Megan.

Personally, I think you’re being too hard on yourself. Now as I know you, maybe I’m cutting you slack, but believe me when I say “I’ve seen worse.” Just the fact you figured out your faux pas tells me you are well aware of what does and doesn’t work in the long run with Twitter/Social Networking.

The hardest part about Social Media is defining the line of where you, Megan the Pro, ends and Megan the Podcast Junky begins. It’s the same thing with me between @ITStudios and @TeeMonster.

So how do you learn? With time. Allow yourself some fun, but make sure you have a plan in place with what you want to accomplish and where you want to go.

And allow yourself some latitude. You’re not going to get this right after Day One.
